As an introduction, I am Jon Robert, MD, with a 41-year investment in Hot Springs as a practicing Pediatrician. I have been a part of HealthStar Physicians Group at 1629 Ste. B, Airport Rd. since 2012, after having begun in 1977 as part of The Children and Youth Clinic. Many things have changed in medicine since 1977, but one thing has not, and that is my commitment to the child who is my patient and his/her family. Courtney Huneycut, Pediatric A.P.R.N. and I are dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based, state of the art medical care for your child.
Courtney and I begin each day with a fresh commitment to serve the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients and their families. We believe that children are a gift from God and the future of our nation and our society. We believe that they deserve to be reared in the best possible environment and we support your commitment to ensuring their optimal health and well-being. Our motto is to treat your child medically as if that child were our own child. We see Pediatric care as a partnership between us and you, and a relationship requiring trust and transparency. We recognize that you, the parent, are the one invested by God with the final responsibility for decision making in your child’s care and will completely inform you of all the pertinent essential information to helping you make each and every decision involving the treatment that we recommend. We will provide you with additional resources for more complex decision making and refer your child to the best Pediatric Subspecialty Physicians if the diagnosis dictates.
We welcome all of your questions and strive to make our office a place where you will feel comfortable and always provide you with adequate time to ask those questions. You know your child best, and without your observations, we cannot provide the best possible medical care. You, like any other parent, view your child as your most precious gift, and in recognizing that fact, we strive to do our very best to preserve and protect your child’s health. We are always open to your suggestions to make the care that we provide and your experience here, excellent.
We provide general pediatric medical services from birth through age 19. Our services include:
- Well child preventative pediatric care (checkups)
- Chronic disease management
- Radiology services provided in house by a trained X-ray technologist
- Laboratory services provided in house by a trained lab technician
- Attention Deficit Disorder workup and treatment
- Circumcision for newborn males
If you are expecting a baby, we welcome meeting you at a prenatal visit, free of any charge to you. Choosing a Pediatrician is a critical decision, involving years of relationship with the person that you choose, and we strive to help you in making the decision about that person.
There are certifications and awards that I have received over the years that attest to my recognition by the professional societies to which I belong. You are welcome to view these certificates and learn of others that have been given but consider the highest honor that I have received to be from those parents, grandparents, and great grandparents who continue to allow me the privilege of caring for their children and descendants.
Checkups visits are very important to insure that your child is healthy and growing, and developing properly. During checkup visits we assess growth and development, do examinations to screen for health problems, do any indicated laboratory work, and give immunizations if they are needed. Because “sick visit” appointments are brief and are focused on the problem at hand, these visits do not substitute for checkup appointments. Because checkups visits take more time, these should be scheduled in advance and not combined with “sick visit” appointments.
